Stan Bond Memorial Scholarship Available to Western Township Students

The Western Kane County Republican Organization is offering a scholarship in honor of former chairman Stan Bond who passed away in 2019. Stan was also a Montgomery Village Trustee and the State Central Committeeman for the 14th Congressional District, and was engaged in his community in many ways. The scholarship was first offered in 2019.

The scholarship is open to high school and college students residing in the Western Townships of Hampshire, Rutland, Burlington, Plato, Virgil, Kaneville, Blackberry, Big Rock, and Sugar Grove. The $500 scholarship will be awarded based on a 500-word essay comparing Capitalism vs. Socialism. The essays will be anonymously screened and the final decision will be made by Mrs. Marion Bond, Stan’s wife. The student must have plans to attend an accredited 2- or 4-year college or private high school for the 2019-20 academic year. Funds will be distributed directly to the school.

Applications and further details on the essay topic are available online at www.westernkaneGOP.com and on the Western Townships Facebook Page. Applicants must submit their application, essay, and a copy of their most recent transcript/report card to info@westernkaneGOP.com or to Western Kane County Republican Organization, Attn: Scholarship Committee, PO Box 782, Sugar Grove, IL, 60554. Submissions must be received by 11:59 pm on June 14, 2020.
